The USGS, NASA, Arizona State University, Carnegie Institute of Washington and Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory released the first topographic map of Mercury on May 4. The high-resolution map, which is produced by data from NASA’s MESSENGER spacecraft, shows the planet’s volcanoes, craters and tectonic landforms.
