The nation’s second-largest subway system that closed on Wednesday in order to inspect potential safety issues is set to reopen on Thursday, according to railway officials. Paul Wiedefeld, the general manager of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, said 26 issues were identified during the inspection, including “damaged jumper cables and connector boots.” However, all identified problems have been addressed.
