A powerful winter storm swept across the Prairies Wednesday, bringing blizzard conditions, heavy snow and strong winds to parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Environment Canada warned of treacherous travel, possible school and road closures, scattered power outages and bitter wind chills approaching −45 C in northern regions. Some residents welcomed the wintry blast, with people on the streets saying the snow is simply part of Prairie life and something they’ve learned to embrace with the right winter gear.
