Quebec digging out from surprise snowstorm: ‘Winter is starting early, without warning’
Description
November 11, 2025
It’s not what people expected to wake up to this early in November. “I guess this year winter is starting early, without warning,” said one Quebecer digging out on Tuesday morning. The entire month’s average snowfall — 20 cm — fell over much of the southern Quebec region overnight and catching many off guard. “We were caught off guard by the amount of snow which was greater than expected across the greater Montreal,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Julien Pellerin. And the snow downing trees as well, knocking out power to more than 300,000 homes at its peak. Global’s Brayden Jagger Haines has more.
