First Nations’ leader, advocates raise concerns about Manitoba foster system after abuse charges

First Nations’ leaders, front-line workers and children’s advocates are sounding the alarm after a Winnipeg couple was charged with abusing two of the four foster children in their care. One child remains in hospital in critical condition with life-altering injuries. As Global’s Melissa Ridgen reports, those inside the system say the case highlights concerns over training, oversight and accountability for child safety.
