Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) kicked off this week with a heartfelt tribute to a beloved Canadian entertainer, John Candy. The documentary “John Candy: I Like Me” drew massive names and plenty of praise – including tributes from Prime Minister Mark Carney, who called Candy a “national treasure.” Eric Sorenson takes us inside TIFF’s opening night and shares his own memories of the comic legend’s humble beginnings.
