In a press briefing on Monday, authorities said the wildfires in Newfoundland and Labrador had grown to over 5,200 hectares, but there wasn’t any rapid extension of the fires over the week, and the work of water bombers was “starting to pay off.” The water bombers were focused on controlling the northern edge of a fire near Western Bay on Monday, authorities added.
