Many restaurants and businesses have identified the victim as 54-year-old Mark Andrade — a longtime chef at Capers Tap House in Campbellford.

On social media, the restaurant praised him for his passion, warm nature and generous spirit.

The Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation said he was a steadfast supporter. Earlier on Friday he had been part of the foundation’s annual doctors’ cook-off fundraiser.

Northumberland OPP say the vehicle he was driving crashed around 11:20 p.m. on County Road 25 just south of Hastings.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
