Anand calls for de-escalation, says Iran’s nuclear program a source of ‘grave instability’

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand delivered a statement Sunday as she arrived in Brussels for a summit between Canadian and European Union leaders. She said she briefed the prime minister on the “very volatile” situation in Iran and recent U.S. strikes. Anand called Iran’s nuclear development a source of “grave instability” and stressed the need for diplomacy. Canada has advised against all travel to Iran. Anand announced increased consular support for Canadians stranded in the country, including help with border crossings.
