Description
May 5, 2025
(Original airdate Friday, May 2)
At the Peterborough Public Library, a powerful piece of public art is taking shape - honouring the lives of missing and murdered indigenous women, girls, and two spirit people.
The 'Red Dress Installation' invites visitors to add red textiles and other accessories to the dress-- each addition meant to represent 'a life, a voice and a shared commitment to remembrance and action.'
The City of Peterborough will also mark Red Dress Day on Monday, May 5, with a public ceremony at city hall. The event will include smudging, drumming, and remarks from Indigenous leaders and city officials.
