Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre announced Friday that if elected his government would introduce tougher sentences for those convicted of domestic violence, adding that a Tory government would make it harder to get bail for such offences and would introduce mandatory first-degree convictions for anyone found guilty of murdering their intimate partner, child or child’s partner.
