4 dead, dozens rescued after avalanche buries workers in India’s Uttarakhand
Description
March 1, 2025
At least four people have died after an avalanche swept through a construction site in India’s northern state of Uttarakhand on Friday. Officials say 55 workers were initially trapped under the snow, with 50 rescued, but four later succumbed to their injuries. Most of the workers were migrant laborers involved in a highway construction project. Rescue operations are ongoing in the region, which has seen increasing avalanches and landslides in recent years.
