Canada moves ahead with listing cartels as terrorist entities in crackdown on fentanyl trade

The federal government is moving to list drug cartels as terrorist organizations under the Criminal Code, giving law enforcement broader powers to track illicit money flows and dismantle networks fueling the fentanyl crisis. The announcement, made by Public Safety Minister David McGuinty on Wednesday, comes as Canada deepens intelligence-sharing with the U.S. to disrupt cross-border trafficking.
