Oshawa community shows support after death of local firefighter

The Oshawa community is coming together to show support for the family of a firefighter, who died recently in an accident. A GoFundMe was launched for Chris Toms by the Oshawa Professional Firefighters Association, which rapidly raised more than seven times its goal of $10,000. The money raised will help cover memorial expenses and support the family’s immediate and future well-being. Shortly after passing away, Toms’ colleagues decided they wanted to find a way to help out. The union’s president says seeing an outpouring of support from community members and beyond during a difficult time, has been amazing.
