Thousands of people, including Congolese soldiers fled into Rwanda on Monday as M23 rebels advanced on the eastern Congolese city of Goma, witnesses said. Inmates broke free from the main prison in Goma amidst a rebel offensive in the city, a prison agent said. Meanwhile, thousands protested in Bukavu, with some protesters carrying clubs, expressing readiness to defend against what they see as Rwandan-backed aggression.
