Amid threats to slap 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian goods when he re-enters the Oval Office on Jan. 20, U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s rhetoric about Canada becoming the 51st state reached a new level on Tuesday. In the meantime, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is convening an in-person meeting with the nation’s premiers next week. And as Mercedes Stephenson reports, right now, it’s those provincial leaders who are leading the charge.
