Labour Minister Steve MacKinnon said in Ottawa on Tuesday that the issues at hand in the Canada Post negotiations are “substantial” and “significant,” after the Canadian Union of Postal Workers issued a 72-hour strike notice. MacKinnon said that the federal government’s plan is to support collective bargaining if it occurs, but that they are focused on providing mediation support at the moment.
