Florida is preparing for its largest evacuation since 2017 as Hurricane Milton intensified in the Gulf of Mexico Monday on its path toward the U.S. state’s western coast, coming on the heels of the devastating Hurricane Helene. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Monday that additional resources have been allocated to remove debris from Helene that poses an additional danger now that Milton threatens the western Florida coast.
