Doctors, nurses and medics took part in widespread protests in Kolkata, Lucknow, Chandigarh and New Delhi on Tuesday, following the rape and murder of a trainee medic in the city of Kolkata, authorities said. The victim, a 31-year-old trainee doctor, was found dead in a seminar hall of the R.G. Kar Medical College on Friday. Police said she had been raped and murdered, and a police volunteer was subsequently arrested in connection with the crime.
