Business Matters: Grocery code of conduct won’t drive food prices higher, Empire CEO says
Description
April 2, 2024
Michael Medline, the chief executive of Sobey’s parent company Empire, reiterated Tuesday that there’s no evidence that a proposed grocery code of conduct would raise food prices for Canadians. This stands in stark contrast with views expressed by the heads of Canada’s largest grocery retailers, Loblaws and Walmart, who have expressed concern about the federal government’s attempt to implement new industry rules. Anne Gaviola has this story and more in Business Matters for Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
