The Muslim holy month of Ramadan is underway, but there is no ceasefire in Gaza. For the 2.3 million people inside Gaza, there will be little cause to celebrate when the daily fast is broken every evening. The United Nations says over 500,000 people are at risk of famine in Gaza. The UN says food air drops barely scratch the surface of need, and Cyprus's proposed maritime aid corridor appears to have already run into logistical issues. Plus, a definite reminder that Canadians aren't out of winter's grip yet, snow and rain are wreaking havoc on both coasts, as well as Quebec. Forecasters warn the risk of avalanche is highest on B.C.'s south coast, while in Quebec the heavy snow has left many residents in the dark. And a ceremony was held Sunday morning at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to mark the 10th anniversary of the end of Canada's combat mission in Afghanistan. More than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members served during the 13-year mission and 158 of them died in the conflict. While the combat mission has long been over, Canada remains very much connected to the troubled country.
