Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced Wednesday that the province will be ending its ban on renewable energy projects on Feb. 29 after a six month moratorium. “Alberta is Canada’s leader on renewable energy — in fact, as much as 92 per cent of the renewables investment that happened in Canada in 2023 happened in Alberta. Our unique deregulated electricity market and competitive tax system mean that we are Canada’s hub for investment,” Smith said.
