After news of former NDP leader Ed Broadbent’s death, former Canadian prime minister Jean Chrétien said in Ottawa on Thursday that despite “tough” disagreements between the two political leaders, they were also “united” in the goal of bettering the country. “He was always there when there was a good cause, even after he quit politics,” Chretien said, adding that it was most likely two or three months since he last saw them.
