The man shot in a southwest Edmonton suburb Wednesday morning is Vimal Chandra Iyer, the mastermind convicted for a high-profile, multi-million-dollar fraud scheme, neighbours told Global News.

Vimal Chandra Iyer was sentenced to seven years in prison - less 30 days for time served - on Friday after being convicted of fraud following a nearly yearlong trial in Edmonton.
