Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the schedule Friday evening after reaching an agreement with Republicans.

Abandoned by some in his own party and without his Twitter account, Trump could do nothing but watch history unfold on television.

It marked a stark contrast to the first time Trump was impeached in December 2019 over the Ukraine scandal, which was not supported by a single House Republican.

The lawmakers said Trump “demonstrated that he will remain a threat to national security, democracy and the Constitution if allowed to remain in office.”

A handful of Republicans have already said they'll join the effort to impeach Trump, a number that could grow as the vote nears.

The House voted Tuesday night on a resolution urging Vice-President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove Trump with a Cabinet vote.
