On Saturday Lumsden, Saskatchewan welcomed thousands of visitors in honour of one of the town's most popular annual events; the annual Scarecrow Festival.

Part of the Armstrong Harvest Pumpkin Festival, the Scarecrows on the Street contest had two dozen local businesses competing for best hand-made scarecrow display, with participation benefiting the food bank.

This village deep in the rugged mountains of southern Japan once was home to hundreds of families. Now, only 35 people remain, outnumbered three-to-one by scarecrows.
