Ontario Families for Public Education said the rallies scheduled for Thursday are being held to "protest education funding cuts and to celebrate the incredible gains made for our kids by CUPE education workers in their recent contract negotiations."

The parents are part of a network of advocacy groups fighting to stop cuts to public education and include Ontario Families for Public Education, Scarborough Families for Public Education, West End Parents for Public Education and several others.
