After four days of grueling ballots, McCarthy flipped more than a dozen conservative holdouts to become supporters, with the remaining holdouts finally dropping their opposition.

McCarthy lost seventh, eighth and then historic ninth, 10th and 11th rounds of voting, surpassing the number it took the last time this happened, 100 years ago.
