On Tuesday, almost three and a half years after his arrest, Matthew Maxwell was sentenced to 15 years in a penitentiary minus nine months for the fatal assault of his mother.

The accused, identified as 27-year-old Matthew Maxwell, appeared in court on Thursday and faces one count of second-degree murder.
