Toronto Fire says a large maple tree that was struck by lightning during Thursday evening's storm collapsed onto two homes. Paramedics said four people were assessed for injuries.

An expert from Queen's University says climate change is having an effect on the process of making maple syrup, something a Kingston, Ont., sugar bush owner can corroborate.

According to the Vancouver Parks Board, the trees ranged from three to almost five metres in height and were cut down in the 500-block of West 29 Ave. sometime after midnight on Jan. 6 or 7.
