Lori Kaye is believed to have thrown herself in front of her synagogue’s rabbi to protect him from a gunman’s bullets in a heroic move that epitomizes the life she led, her family and friends said.

Amid the deadly rampage of the San Diego synagogue shooting on Saturday, a doctor ran to perform CPR on a woman laying unconscious on the floor and fainted when he realized the victim was his wife.

The 60-year-old was a founding member of a Southern California synagogue that was targeted in an anti-Semitic attack on Saturday.
