The Alberta government says skiers will need to pay for parking to have groomed cross-country trails in the popular Kananaskis Country.

While graffiti isn't an entirely new problem for conservation officers to deal with, at least three separate incidents of tagging were enough to prompt Alberta Parks to take to Twitter to remind visitors of the penalty they can face if they are caught defacing a mountain or park infrastructure. 

Matt Mueller, a public safety specialist for the Kananaskis Region, said the increased number of calls is putting a strain on emergency services.

While setting up his campsite in Kananaskis country, this avid outdoorsman had a rare face-to-face encounter with a grizzly bear and her two cubs.

Kananaskis safety officials say they need to continue to educate the public as the area gets more visitors each year.
