It was an emotional day in a courtroom, as family and friends of murdered construction worker Floreano Lopes gave victim impact statements at his killer’s sentencing hearing.

Paramedics took the shooting victim, identified as 42-year-old Toronto resident Floreano Lopes, to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead.
