The majority of these counterfeits have been Canadian $50 bills, however, several U.S. $100 bills and Canadian $5 bills have also been discovered.

Police are warning the public to be on the lookout for the fake money and have released an image captured from security camera footage of a man they believe is responsible for some of the counterfeit cash.

Both Edmonton police and RCMP across Alberta have encountered fake $20 and $100 bills during investigations in recent weeks, which has led to several arrests.
