The ship CCGS Hudson was determined to be 'beyond economic repair,' after its starboard propulsion motor failed in November, according to the Canadian Coast Guard.

The coast guard said Wednesday all 44 crew members of CCGS Jean Goodwill and CCGS Hudson were initially tested Dec. 24 and were negative.

A Quebec shipyard has declined to bid on a $20-million contract to refit the CCGS Hudson and instead suggested she be scrapped, the latest headache to bedevil Canada's efforts to provide the Coast Guard and the navy with new ships.
