Alberta’s Minister of Municipal Affairs visited Calgary on Friday to tour homes damaged by severe flooding in June 2013.

The city is spending $9 million to build three new bridges in Riverdale, Rideau Park and Sandy Beach, and each project is both on time and on budget.

Those who live near Elbow Drive are facing another round of traffic headaches, for the fourth time in as many years.

A prominent Calgary businessman has commissioned a fortress-like barrier around his Elbow Park home- but others are encountering problems from city hall.

The bridges were along the Elbow River, at Sifton Blvd., Rideau and Sandy Beach. The city has allocated $9 million to repair all three.

$9 million has been allocated to build the suspension bridges crossing the Elbow River at Sandy Beach, Sifton Blvd. and along Elbow Drive into the community of Rideau.

Early Friday morning, half a dozen robberies happened in the communities of Evergreen, Walden and New Brighton. Residents were sleeping inside at the time.

The southwest community of Elbow Park, which is still recovering from the June flood, is now being hit by crooks.

Calgarians can expect to see an average hike of six per cent when they receive their 2014 assessments.
