CALGARY- A number of brazen break-ins have prompted police to issue a warning to homeowners.
Early Friday morning, half a dozen robberies happened in the south Calgary communities of Evergreen, Walden and New Brighton. Residents were sleeping inside at the time.
Police say whoever is responsible got into the homes by cutting window screens, then stole small items like cellphones, keys, purses and electronics. In one case, a woman was sleeping on a couch on the main level, when she woke up to find a suspect in her home with a flashlight.

In another case, a thief stole keys from inside the home then tried to steal a truck while the family was sleeping.
While no suspect descriptions were available, police say one witness saw two men in a white or cream SUV, which looked like a Jeep Compass.
There have been a number of break-ins in south Calgary over the past week, including some that prompted police to warn residents living in the inner city community of Elbow Park.
Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
