Exhaust pipes serving a boiler were broken, causing the boiler to exhaust into the apartment building instead of outside and leading to high levels of CO.

Saskatoon fire officials say the building residents were saved thanks to carbon monoxide alarms installed in the apartment complex after a close-call in mid-January.
