People are remembering Dr. Laura Kosakoski as a kind soul after she died of injuries sustained in an avalanche last week.

The report says the woman was caught and deeply buried by the debris before being dug out by the two other skiers.

One person was buried after a group of skiers set off an avalanche on Mount Hector on Friday, according to Avalanche Canada.

Police said a man and woman searched for the buried woman for about 15 minutes, found her and were able to dig her out.

Parks Canada said crews responded to an avalanche involving a group of 11 backcountry skiers on their way to Bow Hut in Banff National Park at around 4:30 p.m. Friday.
