Parks Canada said it was a memorable cold snap in 2019 that really started to significantly bring down the population of mountain pine beetles in Jasper National Park.

Parts of western Alberta, including Jasper National Park and the Hinton area have been hard hit by the mountain pine beetle. Now, dead trees are being reported in metro Edmonton.
