Give Me Shelter – November 20 – December 15

Each year, thousands of women and children flee domestic violence to find shelter at one of Alberta’s women’s shelters. Many women leave quickly with their children taking nothing more than the clothes on their backs in a desperate attempt to get away. Having somewhere safe is vital to these families.

No one should be forgotten over the holidays. Join Global Edmonton’s Give Me Shelter campaign to help make the holidays a bit brighter for these women and children. We are collecting UNWRAPPED gifts, toiletries, and gift cards for women and children of all ages. Donations can be made at the Global Edmonton Studio or at any Royal Pizza location.

Outside Mullingar by John Patrick Shanley – March 7 – 25

Anthony and Rosemary are two introverted misfits straddling 40. Anthony has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a state of affairs that—due to his painful shyness—suits him well. Rosemary lives right next door, determined to have him, watching the years slip away. With Anthony’s father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between their families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe. But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness. Their journey is heartbreaking, funny as hell, and ultimately deeply moving. Don’t miss Outside Mullingar at the Varscona Theatre. For tickets visit shadowtheatre.org.
