Whether the conversation is about an event, a political movement, a time in art history, post colonialism, feminism, gender equality, the environment or cats vs dogs…this exhibition is open ended. What do you feel deserves more consideration? What subject, question, debate or discussion do you feel needs further examination? The Lake Country Art Gallery invites all artists to submit a work of art to this years Members’ Exhibition with guest curator Lee Claremont. Gardens are a constant source of inspiration for Pat Hall. Exploring the world of plants, seed pods and birds Pat uses clay to depict sculptures, bells, flowers, whimsical creatures and functional wares.

Colours enter through the eye and end up in the heart, where they change the way we feel about what we see. Christine and Francine have been working together for years in the intensely creative field of early childhood education; where creativity and imagination are unleashed by the budding young minds. Reaching into the palette of possibility and placing each stroke on canvas is a way to display the artist’s relationship with the world of colour. This exposition is expressing pure emotion. Grey skies can’t keep the excitement away! The Okanagan Wine Festivals Society is thrilled to commence its 23rd year of spring festivities starting May 4 - May 14, 2017. The Asian Heritage Month Family Sundays at Kelowna Art Gallery will be held every Sunday in May. There are four community groups teaching arts and crafts such as the Japanese, Korean, Filipino and Chinese. This is an annual family event enjoyed by children and parents every year. Every parent is encouraged to bring his or her children to participate and celebrate Asian Month in the Okanagan.

The Friends of Fintry will be celebrating Mother’s Day on the grounds of the Manor House with their Spring Fair. Exhibitors and vendors will set up displays on the lawn showcasing plants and shrubs, gardening know-how, food stuffs, house maintenance, and arts and crafts. See Úlfhéðnar (oolf-heth-nar), a group of historical reenactors portray the life of a roving Viking warband and listen to musicians play from the front veranda of the Manor House throughout the day. Visit the North Westside Firefighters who will bring their heavy equipment onto the lawn and if you come early you can hear the Kalamalka Highlanders Pipe Band play. Games and activities will entertain children of all ages and food will be available for purchase from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Entry to the Fair is by donation and there is no charge for Fintry Members and school-age children. Tours of the Manor House cost $5 per Adult.

What in the world is going on in the city of Ephesus? In honour of Canada’s 150th Birthday, Theatre Kelowna Society, Shakespeare Kelowna Society and the Rotary Centre for the Arts are presenting “The Comedy of Errors”, William Shakespeare’s hilarious comedy. Directed by Steven Jefferys with a bit of a maple syrup flavour. Playing at the Mary Irwin Theatre May 17-28.

“Backwards and Forwards”, the second show in the Summerland Arts Centre’s 2017 season, opens Thursday, May 18th, with a Reception 7:00 – 9:00 pm. You are invited to come and meet the artist, Vikki Drummond, and see her work. The show runs from May 18 – June 23rd.

2nd Annual CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB Sanctioned Confirmation Dog show May 20,21 & 22nd 2017. It will be held outdoors and open to spectators to enjoy! Non-profit event; donations graciously accepted!

February 1st of this year, our neighbor Sean had brain surgery to remove a cavernous malformation from his brain stem. What was expected to be a straight forward procedure has turned into a litany of medical emergencies, procedures, and prescriptions. On May 20th we come together to raise funds to support him and his family as they travel the road towards recovery. Sean's Road to Recovery Benefit Concert will feature Poppa Dawg and Jimmy LeGuilloux and will be an afternoon you won't want to miss!
