TORONTO – The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating what caused a fire on Wilson Avenue after several explosions were heard shortly after the blaze first broke out.
Fire crews spent over an hour battling the major fire at a mechanic’s shop on Wilson Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out at Ontario Engine Rebuilder located on Wilson Avenue, east of Weston Road, just after 2 p.m.
At its peak, the fire demanded 13 trucks and 50 firefighters.
The mechanic’s shop is close to Highway 401 and the thick, black smoke from the fire could have been a distraction to some drivers.
