The countdown to Christmas is on and I have yet to endure even a touch of frostbite. For those of you who have never been to Winnipeg in late November, this frost-free fact is amazing!
I have to admit, I've been hesitant to write or even talk about the wonderfully warm weather…fearing I would jinx it. I'm not overly superstitious. Although I will confess to having a fortune cookie message pegged to the wall of my cubical. I bought it on my birthday and it's a good one! Anyway, when something is as good as this you don't want to do or say anything that might ruin it.

Photographer Kurt Brownridge and Crystal in the great outdoors of Manitoba's capital city. "Look Mom, no gloves!"
I first started thinking about how lucky I felt not to be freezing on November 11th. I was standing outside with my husband attending a Remembrance Day service in my neighbourhood. We walked to the service without mitts, a hat or even a scarf. The year before, I was bundled up so well my mom would have been proud.
We are getting some light flurries and it is cooler, but even to be able to use the word "cool" instead of "mind-numbing cold" is a treat.

I know the weather will return and Jack Frost will bite, but in the meantime I am enjoying living in Winnipeg.
