Gospel Mission holds turkey drive

Thanksgiving is just a week away but preparations are well underway at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission.

The social agency held a turkey drive on Saturday outside the Save-On Foods in Orchard Plaza to help feed hundreds of people in need.

Residents had the choice to donate cash or actual turkeys.

Students from St. Joseph’s Elementary School raised $1,075 for the cause, which will help buy about 50 turkeys.

Randy Benson from the Gospel Mission said the agency is expecting to serve thousands of meals over the Thanksgiving holiday.

If you would like to donate, you can do so by dropping a turkey or cash off at the Gospel Mission on Leon Avenue or by donating your Save-On-More points to the cause.
