CALGARY – City officials are looking for public input on plans to redevelop a popular southwest park.
The City of Calgary has been working on redevelopment plans for Stanley Park for the last year, and will be presenting their final draft at an open house on Saturday November 23rd at the Parkhill/Stanley Park Community Hall from 1 to 4 p.m.
Officials say the redevelopment of Stanley Park must be undertaken to accommodate the increasing number of visitors.

“Along with the need to address aging infrastructure and conflicts on pathways and playgrounds, expansion requests from user groups – including rugby, lawn bowling and the community association – created the need for comprehensive public engagement on redevelopment of the park,” says Keath Parker, Parks planning manager.
The redevelopment plan calls for retaining well-loved features such as the swimming pool and playing fields, and also the development of a new ‘hub’ that will create a focal point for activities in the park.
The regional pathway will also be realigned, and the picnic area and playgrounds will be expanded.
Currently, portions of Stanley Park remain closed to the public due to flood damage, including picnic areas and playgrounds
