Warning period in effect at newest red light camera

SASKATOON – The City of Saskatoon is giving drivers time to adjust to its newest red light camera.

A month-long warning phase began Wednesday at the intersection of 33rd Street and Idylwyld Drive.

During this time, warning tickets will be mailed out.

Once the warning period has ended on Dec. 20, drivers who disobey traffic lights will be required to pay fines.

The fine is for running a red light at an intersection with cameras is $230. A late charge of $40 is added if the fine isn’t paid within 30 days.

Residents will be able to view violations and pay online once violation notices are received.

Red light cameras have also been upgraded at Preston Avenue and 8th Street, Warman Road and 51st Street and Avenue C and Circle Drive.
