As beleaguered  Mayor Rob Ford executes his “health plan” a report surfaced Wednesday that a trainer he’s consulted with was convicted for trafficking steroids and is currently under a 12-year coaching ban in Canada for administering steroids to a boxer.

Following his admission to smoking crack cocaine the Toronto mayor has said he’s working with a team of health professionals, but has refused to offer details other than to say he’s focusing on his weight.

On Tuesday, Valerio Moscariello who goes by the name Valerio Mosca online, posted a picture of himself on Instagram (which has been removed) with Ford on a treadmill with the comment “Putting Toronto mayor through a Valerio workout. The BodyPro training system!!!”

Moscariello, the owner of Team Body Pro Athletics, was found guilty in 2005 of possessing anabolic steroids with the intent to distribute, according to the United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.

In an interview with the National Post, Valerio Moscariello said he was excited to be working with the mayor and that if the mayor was willing “to give 100 per cent,” Moscariello thought Ford could lose the weight.

In 2010, Moscariello also received a 12-year coaching ban from the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), after he admitted to administering national-level boxer Amanda Galle, of Missisauga, Ont. with steroids.

In documents made available by the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada, Moscariello stated that as part of Ms. Galle’s conditioning he injected her bi-weekly with vitamins B6 and B12, but on Jan. 14, 2009 he mistakenly injected her with an anabolic steroid which he intended for personal use.

Galle received a two-year ban after testing positive for the presence of Nandrolone, a prohibited substance on the 2009 WADA Prohibited list.

Moscariello’s 12-year ban means he is “ineligible to participate in any sport at any level and in any role. This prevents him from coaching, training or competing, and restricts competitive athletes from associating with him as a coach or trainer,” according to a statement from CCES.

Attempts to reach Valerio Moscariello were unsuccessful and the website for Team Body Pro Athletics was taken down along with the website for Mutant Nation the bodybuilding supplement company which Valerio Mosca is associated with.
