TORONTO – Embattled Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry laid off another 250 employees from its headquarters in Waterloo, Ont. this week.
In a statement regarding this week’s layoffs, BlackBerry noted that the reduction is part of an ongoing “workforce reduction” that will eventually impact 4,500 BlackBerry employees globally over the next three quarters.
“As previously mentioned, we are in a period of transition and we must focus on enhancing our financial results to be in a better position to compete in this current mobile environment,” read a statement issued to Global News.
