Man in custody after shooting in Dawson Creek

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged shooting in Dawson Creek.

Police say they received a report of someone getting shot around midnight last night in Dawson Creek, but by the time they arrived the suspect fled to his home in Southridge Trailer Park in Fort St. John.

A police dog tracked the suspect to a farm, where he allegedly stole a tractor.

The unique tractor tire marks were then tracked along the Alaska Highway to the Fort St. John area.

The emergency response team was deployed and the suspect eventually turned himself in. A firearm was also recovered.

The victim is awaiting surgery and has non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is being held in custody awaiting numerous charges.
